OUTRAM.

June 13. — A special meeting of the Outram' Road Board was held on Saturday to open tenders ■ for road formations. Present : Messrs Grant (chairman), W. T. Shand, Stevenson, and .Fleming. The tenders for contrast No. 2 were: A. Munro, 12s and 27s per chain ; J. Cameron, 8s and 20s, and BJd per yard for carting material where required; G. Newman, 7s t>d and 17s 6d. G. Newman's tender was accepted. No tenders were received for the bridges or culverts. For contract No. 5, formation of 30 chains, the tenders were : Irving and Ede, £42 15s Gd ; J. Cameron, 18s per chain. Cameron's tender was accepted. The clerk reported that Mr Grant had forwarded a subsidy for gravelling, and that Hannah and Sons had completed their contract. 'Messrs Hannah's account, £18 16s Bd, was passed for payment.

Licensing.—The annual meeting of the Licensing Committee was held in the courthouse, Outram, on Fiiday, and was attended by Messrs P. Grant, W. Aitken, T. A. White, and J. Mather. Mr Grant was ap- , pointed chairman. The following renewals were granted: — Thomas M'Lean M'Kay, Terminus Hotel, Outram; John Charles Johnston, Bridge Hotel, West Taieri; Arthur Alexander Webb, Buckeye Hotel; Thomas Bennet, Outram Hotel; James Olive, Strath-Taieri; <W. Lovel, Hindon; J. Clarke, junction of Dun- , stan and iStrath-Taieri roads; W. Walsh, Deep Stream. Mr Walsh applied this year again for , a reduction of the license fee, which was granted. ' It was fixed at £5, having formerly been £6 6s. , A renewal of a bottle license was granted to Richard Andrews, Outram store. There were no objections to any of the licenses.
