MAUNGATUA.
June 14. — Threshing has been over in the district for some time, and ploughing and lifting potatoes are. now being busily pushed, on, although' the low prices ruling for the lastnamed commodity offer Very little encouragement for any extensive cultivation of that crop. Should the weather continue as favourable as ithas been lately we may soon expect to see the greater part of the ploughing, for drops at any rate, completed. Dairy Factory. — I mentioned some time ago about a public meeting being held in this district to take.i nto consideration the advisability of establishing a dairy factory. Provisional directors have been appointed and a company; formed. The greater number of the shares have been subscribed for, and there is every prospect of the company being successfully floated. Should the factory be established it will be a great benefit to the' settlers of the district, which is well adapted for dairy farming.
