THE COLONIAL WOOL SALES,

London, June 7.
The third of the year's series of colonial wool auctions commenced to-day, before a good attendance of home' and foreign' buyers. The opening catalogue comprised 10,000 bales, for which a fair demand was manifested. The prices lor low quality merino wool and for fine crossbreds ruled M lower than the closing rates of the MarchApril series. Coarse crossbreds sold at £d to Id lower than at last sales' closing rates. The series will close on 21st July.

Messrs Jacobson and Co. and Messrs Balme and Co. report that at the wool sales to-day 10,000 bales were catalogued, nearly half of which were from New Zealand. There was a full attendance,* and bidding was animated. : Merino sorts are 5 .per cent, and crossbreds from 5 to. 10 per cent, lower than' the prices realised ■at last series The decline is mainly on the lower grades.
