Sydney, June 8
In the Legislative Assembly last night a debate took place on the motion of Mr M'Mallan affirming that the rents assessed by the local land boards should not be iacreased. The Government opposed the motion, and the debate was adjourned. The Mount Eennie affair is to be reopened, and probably some important, revelations will be made.
Melbotjbne, June 8
A formal bill indemnifying municipalities in respect to expenditure for the celebration of the jubilee was read a third time, and will probably pass through all its stages to-day.
In the Legislative Assembly to-night Mr •Bent moved an amendment to the Addret-.s-in-Reply, to the effect that the administration of the Mining department was unsatisfactory. The debate is proceeding. • ' '
Adelaide, June 8. In the Legislative Assembly to-night, a division took place on- Mr Playford's no-con-fidence motion, the Government being defeated by a , majority ,of l;} votes. In consequence of this the Ministry will resign. The Government has granted certain remissions in the sentences of prisoners in honour of the Queen's jubilee.
Sydney, June 8.
The coal steamer Waratah ran ashore this afternoon near Bulli colliery. The orew were saved, but it Is considered improbable the vessel will get off.
