WINTON.
(FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.)
April 24th. Bunny.— A large number of settlers were fined at the late sitting o( tho Resident Magistrate's Court for non-compliance with the provisions of the Rabbit Act. In somo cases it seemed a hardship that owueru whoso property joined on to Crown lands should suffer from the pest bred on the said Crown lands, as was stated to bd the case. Thi3 assertion was corroborated by witnesses, bus tho Rabbit Inspector assorted that tho Government lands had .been cleared— a statement which is open to serious doubt.
