Bachelors' Ball at Orawia.

A p.rfect night favoured the annual ball of tire Orawia Bachelors, anda veiy large concourse of people gathered m the Public Hall m espon?e to the invitation of the committee for Wednesday last. The hall was prettily decorated with 'quantities of bunting and fronds of tree ferns, and has seldom looked so attractive The] Bachelors' Ball is one of the most popu'or functions of the Orawia district, and the attendance on Friday night was the largest yet seen m tha hall, over 70 couples participating m the Grand March, which was led off , by the secretary, Mr P. Chamberlain and Miss Cusack. Excellent music for the dance was provided by Messrs J. Crow (piano), Barwell and Livingstone (violins), extras being contributed by ladies of the distriot. A very good programme of songs was given, tho performers being Messrs J. Gor- 1 don, C. Lay and Miss B. Murray, and their items were heartily applauded. The dance committee, with Mr P. Chamberlain as hon. secretary, and Mr A. White as M.O, all worked very hard to ensure the enjoyment of their guests. Of course, a very dainty supper was provided by the commiotee, and altogether an exceedingly pleasant time was spent, every one of the large number of guests voting the affair about the best ever held m the d strict.
