Stock Notes.
Although the number of store sheep that have changed hands during the late week has not been great, th v . demand has been so keen that ithas had the effect of hardening the market to at least the extent of one shilling m the case of both breeding ewes and hoggets. The foreign demand may be said to have almost ceased, owing not only to the scarcity of sheep on offer, but to strong local competition, as there is a growing impression abroad that, owing to the country being short stocked, there will be no slight difficulty m buying at a reasonable rate when the grass come... The fat marke. continues to be very firm, prime wether^-being worth anything between 22s and 255, and ewes from 16s to 20s. There seems any amount of demand for cattle also, with a short sapply, prime beef selling from 35s per hundred and upwards, forward bullocks from .37 to £2, and yearlings, if well bred, up to £4. As a matter of fact there is a very keen enquiry for young oattle of a 1 ! ageg.
