PARCELS APPRECIATED
LETTER OF THANKS SMETHWICK CITIZEN Messrs. L. Des Forges and_ C. Harding received the following letter of thanks from Smethwick for a food parcel received under the Opunake District R.S.A. .scheme: “I am writing to thank you on behalf of my Mother who has just received one of your Gift Parcels. It is the first time she ;has had anything of this kind since she lost Dad, and believe me it ig very kind of you to dp this for our people. I am sure everyone should be very grateful indeed for such a kind gesture frojn you over there. If .at any time you people should get as far as England and you care to look thi s address n'p lam sure you would be made very welcome. We. have not a lot to offer but it is there all the same and welcome.
My Mother, who lives with me, is 83 and she only gets her pension and what extras such as clothes etc., lam able to get her, so I feel I must write and thank you, as it is more than she has had from her home' town, but when it comes such a long way, from friends whom one has never seen, it makes one appreciate the, nice thoweiits and also a reward for the faith Mum has never lost. Mum can write but I am afraid you would not be able to read it, that is why I have written to you on her behalf, as she would, not rest until I had answered. So wishing you good luck, l am yours truly and.very gratefully.—Mrs. Tain, 54 Crawford St., Smethwick.”,
