TRANSFER TO PUNGAREHU
MR. CEO. CATHEY PROMINENT CITIZEN Mr. George C. Cathey, who for the past several years has been manager of the Eltham branch of the Farmer’s po-op.; will be leaving shortly on transfer to the firm’s Pungarehu branch. During his residence in Eltham, more particularly during the war years-, Mr. Cathey took a great part in many patriotic efforts. As a member, president and executive officer of the Eltham branch of the Returned Services Association, .Mr. Cathey has been a tower of strength and his departure will leave a gap hard to fill.
' Other bodies in the town with which Mr. Cathey has been closely associated are the Eltham and' District Highland Pipe Band,\pf which he has been secretary °nd an executive officer for some ' time past; the Eltham : Savage Club, of which he was a foundation member, and the Eltham Borough Council, on which he f served a short term. As one of the R.S.A. members of the Eltham Rehabilitation Committee, Mr. Cathey’s knowledge of the . farming industry has been in-,) valuable, and' Ids loss is going to be felt by the committee oil * which hp has served so well. Mrs. Cathey, too, like her husband, has devoted a considerable ‘ amount of her time to public interests in the women’s organisa lions in the town and district, both during the war and since. Her activities in the Women's Division of Federated Farmers, of which she is a past president, have been outstanding and her valuable services are going’ to be greatly missed. Both Mr. and Mrs. Cathey will take away with them to their new home at Pungarehu the best wishes of many friends frr ,their future success’ and happiu- • ess.—Eltham Argus.
A former president of the Eltham branch of the Returned Services Association, Mr. G. Cathey, who is leaving to live at Pungarehu, was farewelled by the branch on Saturday night. A presentation was made by the president, Mr. M. Bitter. Other members of the executive who socke were Messrs, Q. Bush, F. Coward, J. HesseM and B. Carlis (for South African War veterans). '
