A GRAND PICTURE
BRITISH THROUGHOUT GREATLY APPRECIATED The residents of the Opunake district have had the opportunity this week of seeing what all will fully agree to be the best picture of the century, “Cavalcade.” The picture had not been unduly boosted—we were informed that it was classed by the great American producers and critics as A.A.A., which means perfection. What really drew us to see this great production was the fact that the entire cast was British—the story was British andcflie speakers throughout were to speak our own language as we know it ourselves.
“Cavalcade” lias come and gone, and we who were fortunate enough to see this wonderful film achievement, will long cherish the thought of it, for though to many it brought back unpleasant memories which had almost faded in the years gone by. the pride of being a member of the British race was surely uppermost in every man’s heart on leaving the theatre. Surely more films of this character could be produced—they would serve to uplift a growing - country and fill the minds of the young jreople with the knowledge that England—our Motherland—has many proud records in which . we and the stock, from which we come have had much to share in.
It has been clearly proved that the public are keen to see the British pictures and we are quite sure that future productions anywhere approaching “Cavalcade” will again find the theatre packed to the doors. The local screening was all that could .he desired—the speaking was very clear and the lighting superb. We congratulate the management on the manner in which the large crowd was seated without any undue crushing or trouble. The public also are to he commended for its punctuality which at each performance allowed the programme to commence at the time advertised.
