RAHOTU.

(Our Own Correspondent.)

The fortnightly quadrille assemblies were brought to a close by a dance on Friday evening last in the Eahotu Hall. -There was a good attendance, and all seemed to thoroughly enjoy themselves. The refreshments were plentiful and good, and the committed in whose hands the management was should be well satisfied at the success of the affair. Dancing was kept up till about 4 a.m. I have heard some vague rumours of an attempt to be made to upset the proposals to borrow money for the purpose of metalling the Kahui East Road. I do not know how 7 the proposals are to be “ quashed.” We have had some nice weather for grass, &c., during the last day or two, but still, I think, the farmers could stand a little drop more rain.
