The Babcock Milk-Tester.
Owing to the many things said for and against the Babcock milk-tester, says a Victorian paper, it may be interesting to record the results of a month’s observations in connection with the Mognolemby creamery. This creamery sends cream to the Euroa Butter Factory to be churned, and for the fortnight ending May 12th the amount of butter, computed from the Babcock chart as a result of the the two tDsts made during the fortnight, was on 59,2451 b of milk, 25371 b of butter. When the returns came to band, they showed 25101 b. The following fortnight the computation on the tests was for 55,4371 b of milk 24261 bof butter. The returns were 24321 b. On four weeks’ milk, therefore, producing nearly 50001 bof butter, there was only a discrepancy of 91b, a result accurate enough to satisfy any ordinary person.
