MANAIA.
(Our Own Correspondent.) Manaia August 18. Much regret is expressed at the death, at the age of 29, of Mr W. McCarty, who was buried at Manaia on Friday night- A great number followed the remains to their resting place, and an Oddfellows’ funeral was accorded him. The ladies’ evening at the Mutual Improvement Association, to my mind, was the best of the season, For my own part, I would infinitely prefer listening to their sweet musical voices than the rasping drake-in-a-barrel growl by our would-be politicians, whose arguments, as a rule, are as neat and polished as a chunk of rata firewood.
