Mew Plymouth Harbor Board.

The Harbor Board met on Wednesday. Present: Messrs R. Cock (Chairman), Oonnett, George, Bewley, Teed, Sarten, Maxwell, and Ward. HARBORS ACT. Letters were received from Mr F. McGuire and Mr E. M. Smith, stating that they would move in the direction required by the Board in obtaining riding f tion in the new Harbors Bill.—The r ' Chairman wanted to know if a copy of the Bill had been received. —The Secretary replied in the negative.—The Chairman said it was necessary to obtain a copy, as he believed tKpre were some important borrowing provisions in the Bill. : ■ WORK REQUIRED. A long discussion took place on work required at the breakwater. LAND REVENUE. The Treasury notified remittance of £1843 6s 7d, being Board’s quarter . share of land revenue for the quarter ending June 30.—The Chairman said that the, sum was satisfactory, and would enable the Board to meet certain liabilities in connection with the loan. REFUND. Mr Samuel, as solicitor to the Board, put in writing his opinion as to the question of refunding in cases where property bad been over valued, the same being in confirmation of the verbal opinion be gave at last meeting of the Board. TIMBER. Messrs H. Brown and Co. wrote asking for a share of the Board’s favors in the timber line. The Works Committee dealt with the letter, and recommended that tenders be called. STRIKING RATE. Notice of motion to strike the rate was given, and the same will be passed at a special meeting on August 29. ACCOUNTS. Accounts were passed, and the Board adjourned.—Herald.
