W. D. Scott’s Stock Report. On Friday, the Gth instant, my Opunake yards were well filled, a great number more cattle than advertised coming forward. The attendance was gool, and bidding brisk, the reserves in many cases being high. I succeeded in quitting a number of lines at the following prices: Springing heifers, £4 9s Gd to £6 Is; spiinging cows, £4 10s to £5 10s; cows in calf, £3 6s to £4 ; cows and calves, £3 14s Gd ; 18-montlis steers, £3 Gs Gd to £3 10s ; calves, 25s to 80s : yearlings, 80s to 40s ; 12 to 15-months steers, -£2 18s; 12 to 15-months heifers, £2 17s Gd. Pigs, slips, ss. At the Awatuua yards, on the 9th instant, more cattle than usual came forward, but owing to the rain, very few lines were sold. Fat heifers made £4 ; springing heifers, £4 10s to £4 15s; backward heifers, £3 to £3 5s ; springing cows, £5 ss. Budge and Good’s Stock Sales Report. Otakebo.—On the 22nd ult. a good number of cattle were offered with satisfactory prices, the fat bullocks being extra prime. We quote: 2-year-o’d steers, £3 8s ; store cows, £3 to £3 10s ; cows, £4 to £G 10s; 21-year-old heifers, springing, £4 16s ; others, £3 14s to £4 ss; 18-months to 2-year-old very quiet heifers, £8 5s ; fat bullocks, £6 11s Gd to £6 13s Gd ; light weight (butchers’) cattle, £5 10s ; fat cows, £4 7s Gd ; extra heavy weight cows, £G 19s. Kaponga.—On the 29th ult. there was a large entry of cattle, chiefly dairy stock, for which thex'e was keen competition, bringing prices up to £7 12s Gd. We quote ; 2-year-old steers, £3 Gs to £3 13s ; 12 to 15-months old tears, £2 5s to £2 10s ; yearling heifers, £2 ss; weaners, £1 7s Gd to £1 IGs; dairy cows, £4 to £7 ss; good heifers, near profit, up to £7 12s Gd ; others, £4 to £4 17s Gd. Manaia.—on the 2nd inst. the stock offered was chiefly young steers and dairy heifers, two pens of big bullocks going home unsold. The bidding, for dairy stock was spirited as usual of late. We quote : old steers, £3 18s ; 2-year-old steers, £3 11s ; 18-montlis steers, £2 14s ; yearling steers, £2 ; weaners, £1 10s to £1 13s Gd; dairy cows, £5 7s Gd to £7 ; 3-year-old quiet heifers, £4 12s Gd to £5 ; 2 to 24-year-old good quality heifers, £3 17s. Sheep—Ewes empty, Gs.
