Rahotu Rifle Club.
Annual General Meeting.
(From a Correspondent.) The second annual general meeting of the Rahotu Rifle Club was held in the Rahotu Hall on Saturday evening last. There was only a small attendance of members. In the absence of the President the Vice-President (Mr J. Lush) took the chair. The minutes of the last meeting were read and confirmed. The Chairman then read the report for the year ended 30th June, 1894, being briefly as follows : “ The members of the Club had not made any exceptionally good shooting during the past year, but when competing with teams from other clubs the Rahotu representatives had been able to hold their own. Daring the year ten been held for the cup presented by the President (MfG. Rutherford). On the first occasion it was won by Mr J. Duggan, with 19 points handicap. On the 2nd by Hr W. Sutton „ 3 „ IQth ~ W. C. Phillips ~ scr Mr W. C. Phillips is therefore the present holder of the cup. On the 28th September last a team from the New Plymouth Rifle Club fixed a friendly match against the Rahotu team on the local range, which resulted in a tie—lime being short it was left a drawn match. A team from the Rahotu Club was sent to Oeo on the 15th December to compete with the Manaia Club’s representatives
for a cup presented by Mr McGuire, M.H.E. Idahotu won by GG points. A second match was fixed at Manaia on 9th January, in which Manaia won by 1-1 points. At Eahotn a third match was fired on sth March, in which Manaia were beaten by 22 points ; so that the Rahotu Club holds the cup for the time being, as another match for this prize cannot he fixed until next year, 1895. Members would thus see, he (tho Chairman) thought, that the Club's representatives had not disgraced themselves or their Club. During about* three months of the past year the Club had not been able to have any practice owing to no ammunition being procurable. He thought it a matter of regret that the younger members of the community took so little interest in the Club, but hoped this would not continue. On account of the scarcity of funds during the past year be considered it would bo necessary to slightly increase the subscription.” The* Secretary then read the balance-sheet, which showed a slight credit balance. The Chairman said he had much pleasure in proposing that the report and balance-sheet, which he thought very favorable under the circumstances, be adopted. Seconded by Mr Morrison, and carried unanimously. The following officers were then elected :—Patron, Mr F. McGuire, M.H.R. ; President, Mr James Rutherford, sen ; Vice-Presidents, Messrs J. Lusk (re-elected), A. Wills, F. P. Simeon, M. J. Mcßeynolds, T. McGloin, and Rua ; Captain, Mr A. Morrison (re-elected); Hon Secretary and Treasurer, Mr E. E, Morgan ; Committee, Messrs W. C. Phillips, E. Sutton, J. Rothery, W. Mills, and F. H. Morgan; Auditors, Messrs A. Anderson and A. Wills; Handicapping Committee, Messrs W. C. Phillips, A. kforrison, and E. R. Morgan, The following new members were elected :—Messrs Bradley, Colmer, Pelham, Whaley, and Hill. It was proposed by Mr Morrison and seconded by Mr Rothery, That rule 3 of the rules and regulations be amended, so that the subscription for the ensuing year be 5s without am m uni tio n.—Carried. It was proposed by Mr Wags la ft* and seconded by Mr Morrison, and carried, That the ranges for the President’s Cup bo altered from 200, 300 and 500 yards, to 300, 500 and GOOvards.
