Opunake Town Board.
The adjourned meeting of the above Board was held on Thursday evening, 12th instant. Present—Messrs G. W. Rogers (chairman), C. F. McGregor, S. Prosser, J. M. Hickey, and W. W. Middleton. The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. CORRESPONDENCE. 4 From John Stewart, asking that a I site be granted for a shed for a Fire Brigade, and also asking the Board to call a meeting to consider the project. —Resolved that the matter be left to the chairman to call a meeting to discuss the matter. From the Commissioner of Taxes, notifying that the subsidy is now payable for year 1893-94. From T. H. Strauchon, requesting permission to transfer section 12, block XXVI., Opunake Towns, to M. J. Mcßeyuolds.—Granted. From Mr Leod, offering to lease section G, block XLIII. for one year. Granted. Resolved, That the Opunake Times be ‘the advertising medium for the Board. Mr Middleton informed the Board that Mr Clough had expressed his willingness to take over the pound.— Resolved, That the clerk communicate with Mr Clough on the matter. It was resolved to procure 820 trees for planting in the Domain from Mr R. Smith, Manaia; the clerk to make the selection. Resolved, That tenders be called for 50 yards (more or less) of gravel, to be put, where required, on, footpaths. Bank balance: credit, £92 10s lid. The following accounts w r ere passed for payment:—F. Des Forges, £3 18s 9d ; R. Pepperill, £l2 3s 6d ; Northern Assurance Company, £4 10s; C. Humphries, £7 5s 9d and £6 9s ; A. 11. Moore, £lO 17s 10 ; limes and Co., £1 4s 6d ; W. Scott, Is 8d ; J. S. Knobbs, £2 8d ; W. Pettigrew. 14s.
Resolved that the members of the Board go round on Wednesday next and plan out necessary works.
