We had only a small sale at Manaia 011 Wednesday, the 4th inst., not many cattle coming forward lor sale, but still the supply was in excess of demand, and a few lines returned home unsold. Sheep still continue to improve in value, and there are few line;? offering, not enough, indeed, to ■upply local requirements. During the'week we have placed a good deal of stock privately at satisfactory We'quote—Dairy cows and springers, £4 5s to £5 ; mixed yearlings, £1 16sto.£l 17s 64. Sheep—Ewes, in lamb, 4s to 13s Gd. Mr Newton King's Weekly Report. New Plymouth, July 5. Cattle—At Eahotn, on Wednesday, the yards were full. Bidding was only fair, many lots having prohibitive reserves on. All lot i. of farmers' cat'.le were placed at good prices, young stock and heifers being most in demand. Many lots were sold after the auction. Calves made 23s 6d to 335; yearlings, 33s to 425; call do, 20s 6d ; cows and calves, £3 15s ; 18month to 2-year steers, £3 12s; springing heifers, £4 10s; fat cows, £4 12s; backward heifers, £3. There was keen enquiry for young cattle forward springers, most of those entered being sold. We had a good muster of both cattle and sheep at Hawera on sth inst. With the exception of two small lots all were disposed of; prices for yearlings and springers being maintained.
