The Senior Championship. The concluding match to decide the holder of the Senior Cup for the year cam*:, off at Hatfera on Friday, before a large number of spectators, the fact that the first meeting between the contestants (the Star Club from New Plymouth and the Waimate Club) , had resulted in a draw adding considerably to the interest displayed. " After a well-contested game, the result was another draw, and an additional match will probably have to be played. The local paper describes the play of the Stars as magnificent. Their backs wtre very smart, and kicked splendidly into touch ; while the forwards proved themselves sterling players in the open. The Waimates played their usual dashing game. Hugh Cood , was undoubtedly the best threequarter on the ground, and his kicking ■was of great help to his side. He was not fed as he should have been, but his try was one that only himself could have got. McCarthy played an • excellent game, but did not pass as much as he might have done. The halves were very poor, though Bolger, on the wing did a lot of good work. J. Lambie, D. Hughes, J. Glenn, and W. Hughes were the pickrf>f the forwards, though all played well. On the Star side, A. Humphries played a fine game at centre half, and on him the whole team worked. L. Allen, S. Humphrieii, and E. Humphries, played admirably at three-quarters ; and Laing and Arnold George put in fine work at half. The forwards all worked well, Smith, O'Carroll, Ryan, Bellringer, ana Hammond being most con- • spicuous.
