LABOUR DAY SPORTS

FIRST-CLASS PROGRAMME The combined committee of the Opotiki Hunt Club and Whakatohca Sports Clubs have arranged a very hue programme for the sports to be held on the showgrounds at Opotiki on Monday next (Labour , Day). One of the main attractions will be.tho chopping events, which never fail to arouse tho keenest interest amongst tl;c spectators, as they watch the razor-edged axes bite out great crips of wood at a surprising rate. The steer-ricling has proved to bo one of the most popular events put on Opotiki programmes and is sure to attract a good number of entries. Horse-lov-ers are catered for in a comprehensive number of events for all classes of riders. Children’s events are also on the programme. Refreshments will be- obtainable on the ground and water water will, also be available free of charge. The charges. for admission are very reasonable, while children under the age of 14 will be admitted free.
