OBITUARY

MRS. CATHERINE NEWTH The death occurred suddenly on Monday morning of Mrs. Catherine. Newth, in her 66th. year. Deceased, who has resided in Opotiki for over 30 years, was born at Ashhurst. Mrs. Newth spent a number of years at Foxtoii and Palmerston N orth, where she was, married.

Deceased took a great interest in many activities in Opotiki, particularly in the A. ancl P. Show, in which she was a large exhibitor. She was a keen worker for the Sunshine League, the Wcmen’,s Institute, the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union and the Gardening Circle. Sho was a staunch supporter of the Labour Party, being a member of the executive committee.

Mrs. Newth leaves three sons, Bemie, Cyril and Harold, and seven grandchildren.
