TO MAKE A SILO.

A Farmer has discovered a very simple and cheap way to make a bilo, and with a very commendable amount of genorisity is willing to make his experience public, and to that end he has furnished the following information for the benefit of the readers of this Journal. As soon as cut, — (trifolium mixed with oats, and tares) — he had the green stuff drawn into a heap, the horses and carts going over the shot bulk, and the carts being tipped in the same way as' we makea manure mound, which some call a pie. By this plan the cost was reduced to the lowest possible amount. There was practically no unloading— the horses and carts in going and returning were equal to any patent press, and when finished put a few slabs and about fifteen inches of earth over the whole, which completed the weight, at the same time excluded the air and preserved the heat. So effectually was ; this done that last week, the silage was j still warm. This food much improved jthe coats of his young steers and I heifers, which are most eager to get ifc. I His ewes also eat and thrive upon it, ' his cows have increased their yield of Butter to the extent of 6_3> per head I per -week. Mr Mouncey is also well satisfied with his experiment that next season he intends to make a much larger quantity of Silo, and he assures us that should any one wish any further information on the above subject he will be happy to afford it.
