SCHOOL OF MINES.
WATER POWER WANTED.
Mr R. W. Lloyd, honorary secretary to the Karangahake School of Mines, •vrote as follows to the Ohmemuri County Council, and the matter came up for consideration at yesterday's meeting of that body:—" I am directed by the Council of the Karangahake School of Mine* to make application for water for power, free of charge, to drive small Pelton wheel connected to dynamo tor the purpose of instruction in electricity and lighting, at our branch school at Waikino. AH water required would pass through about quarter-inch nozzle, and would not be in use for about two months during the driest portion of the ; year, i.e., from about middle of December to same time in February, as the* school would be closed for holidays." The engineer recommended that the water be supplied free of cost, but he considered the School of Mines should provide the material to make the con- j nection. Mr Marrinan moved that the application be granted. This was seconded by Mr Lloyd and was carried.
