THE GOVERNMENT SUBSIDY

The following letter from the Minister of Public Works was read at yesterday's meeting of the Ohinemuri County Council:—" I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of your letter of 3 ist October, applying for a £i for £i ■subsidy to the extent ot £1100 for the purpose ot metalling the roads in the Kaimanawa special rating district. In reply, I wish to iniorm you that your application will receive careful consideration." At a later date the Under Secretary of Public Works wired :-—" Re application for subsidy £1100 metalling roads Kaimanawa special rating district, please wire names of roads on which metalling proposed." The clerk stated that the information asked for had been forwarded.
