Promise By TUC Ahd Watersiders ' The Otago branch of the Trade Union Congress has pledged its full support to the striking Roxburgh hydro workers. Both the Port Chalmers and Dunedin branches of the » Waterside Workers’ Union have also p promised the Roxburgh strikers their full support. , A meeting of the Otago branch of the Trade Uniort Congress held in Dunedin on Saturday, when the president, Mr Neil Crichton, was in the chair, passed this resolution: “That this special meeting of the Trade Union Congress pledges its full support, financial or otherwise, to the Roxburgh hydro workers in their fight to obtain satisfaction of their just demands; we also appeal to other affiliations, whether Trade Union Congress or Federation of Labour, to give their support.” Delegates from the hydro works addressed a large meeting of Dunedin and Port Chalmers watersiders on Friday afternoon, after work had ceased on the waterfront because of the weather. After hearing the case put forward by the delegates, the meeting resolved to give the Roxburgh workers full support.
