ROXBURGH STRIKE
Dispute May Be Widened Special Correspondent WELLINGTON, Nov. 19. Talks on the Roxburgh strike are scheduled to be resumed this morning between the Ministry of Works and the head office of the New Zealand Works’ Union. It appears, however, that the reported introduction of a wage claim into the dispute may make settlement extremely difficult.
Although the New Zealand Workers’ Union is an affiliate of the Federation of Labour, it has for some time been apparent that there is a strong body of men at both the Roxburgh and Mangakino hydro-electric works who are more inclined to support the mili- . tant policy of the Trade Union Con-
gress. It does not appear that wages have yet become a main issue in the talks held here, but, if they were pressed, the dispute might become considerably broadened.
