Championship Shoots
The North Otago Gun Club’s Single and Double Rise Championships were held on Saturday afternoon. In the Single Rise event of 15 targets at 16 yards, L. G. Taylor was the winner, breaking 12 birds. He was followed by R. McNaughton (winner of the event in 1949), and R. Mellrick, who were joint runners-up. In the shoot-off for second place Mellrick won from McNaughton. The Double Rise event was won by L. G. Taylor with 17 breaks, followed by A. D. Taylor with 14 birds. Results were: Five-bird Eye-opener.—C. Thompson (16vds), G. Tate (13) 5 birds, B. Gillies (11), R. Mellrick (16), A. D. Taylor (15), N. West (13), T. Stephens (12) 4 birds. Ten-bird Match.—N. West (13) 10 birds, R. Mellrick (16) 9 birds, T. Stephens (13) G. Tate (13) 8 birds.

Double Rise Eye-opener (five pairs at 14 yards).—L. Taylor, B. Gillies 6 birds, J Robertson, G. Martin, C. Thompson, G. Tate, A. D. Taylor, R. Mellrick 5 birds. Double Rise Championship (10 pairs at 14 yards).—L. G. Taylor 17 birds, 1; A. D Taylor 14 birds, 2. Seven-bird Match. —B. Gillies (11), H. D. Sim (14), J. Robertson (15) 7 birds, R. Mellrick (16), L. Taylor (16), M. McCaw (11) 6 birds.
