EX-MEMBERS’ NIGHT
Oamaru Savage Club The final korero of the season and the twenty-first anniversary of the Oamaru Savage Club was held as an ex-members’ night on Saturday in the Peter Pan Theatre. There was a large attendance, including several ex-members who had travelled distances to attend the korero. Great Chief A. S. Dowdle made a presentation of silver-mounted batons in a case to Ex-great Chief J. Macmillan as a token of appreciation of the services he had given to the club, especially as conductor of the orchestra. The presentation of 10-year badges was made by Ex-great Chief H. J. S. Grater to Savages E. J. McNulty, C. M. Rickman and W. Naish. Those present subscribed £ll Is 3d to the fund for presentation to Colonel Bertie Loach, scribe of the Association of Kindred Clubs.
Ex-great Chief H. E. Wedde was installed in the chair for the evening, assisted by Ex-great Chief H. J. S. Grater, and the following programme was presented: —Numbers by the Savage Orchestra under Ex-great Chief J. Macmillan; songs in character, Ex-great Chief J. E. McDiarmid; violin solo, Savage V. Crocker; musical monologues, Ex-deputy Chief S Hook; songs, Savage W. Renton; quartet, Savages G. and D. Swann, R. L. Sowden and E. Chapman; humorous monologues, Savage Archie Todd (Ashburton); recitations, Savage E. J. McNulty; flute solos, Savage Ray Campbell; humorous items, Savage Rex Allan; and cornet solos. Ex-brave Arthur Nuttall. The accompaniments were played by Ex-great Chief J, Macmillan.
