STAGE DANCING

Taieri Competitions EXCELLENT INTERPRETATIONS The president of the Taieri Competitions Festival, the Rev. W. H. Beech, acted as chairman when the festival was continued last night in the Coronation Hall. Mosgiel, Miss Lorna Prattley, the stage dancing judge, said that the sections were very promising and the dancers had given excellent interpretations. They had put much work into their performances. The tap dancing sections were very even. The judge of the elocutionary sections, Mrs Winnie L. Dugdale, said that the standard had been very good, especially in the juvenile classes. The selection of pieces had been better this year, and reflected credit on the children’s teachers. The sections generally had been interesting and pleasing. She thought that more competitors should enter the character sketch classes. Results : STAGE DANCING (Judge: Miss Lorna Prattley) Tap Dpnce (under 12). —Ima Thomas 1, Betty Riddell 2. Melvin Ness 3.
