NEW COASTAL TANKER

Launching By Mrs Jordan NZPA Special Correspondent Rec. 7.10 p.m. LONDON, May 16. Mrs W. J. Jordan, wife of the New Zealand High Commissioner in London, will launch at Sunderland the motor ship Tanea, the first post-war tanker to be built for the Shell Company of New Zealand, Ltd. The Tanea is of 3100 tons dead weight and embodies special features for her particular function, which will be the coastwise carriage of white oils in bulk and of packed oil products. The Tanea will replace the company’s present coastal tanker, Paua, as soon as possible after her trials, .which will take place in June or July of this year. The new ship will carry a complement of 10 officers and 22 ratings.
