“RED” DEAN IN CANADA

Stones, Eggs, And Tomatoes Rec. 7 p.m. OTTAWA, May 15. The Dean of Canterbury, Dr Hewlett Johnson, slipped out of the back door of a hall to avoid demonstrators after he had addressed the Peace Council at London, Ontario, last night. A stone was thrown through the window. The audience in the hall remained quiet while the dean spoke, but heckled the Rev. J. Endicott, chairman of the Canadian Peace Conference, and other delegates. Eggs and tomatoes, which missed Dr Johnson, but struck others in the party, were thrown. The police detained several persons. The dean left London later to continue his tour throughout Western Canada.
