MISS WILSON HONOURED

Old Girls’ Presentation

Waitaki Old Girls of both senior and junior high schools, from all over New Zealand gathered on Saturday night to bid farewell to Miss J. B. Wilson, retiring principal of the Waitaki Girls’ High School.

Mrs McEwan, who spoke on behalf of all the ex-pupils made the presentation of a mahogany table, a silver tray and a string of pearls, to Miss Wilson. Miss M. Jones, of the North Otago branch, Mrs Hall, of the Wellington branch and Mrs Meldrum, of the Christchurch branch of the Old Girls’ Association spoke in appreciation of the services rendered by Miss Wilson over many years. Mrs Meldrum also presented Miss Wilson with a bouquet. A varied programme of entertainment was arranged, and items were:—Songs by a sextet group, solos by Miss W. Slater and by a trio (Misses J. Hinton, R. Muldrew and L. Meldrum). Recent pupils staged a minuet which was followed by Art Portrayals and a Mannequin Parade.

At the conclusion of the items, a souvenir 6 programme was presented to Miss Wilson by Mrs Domigan.
