JOTTINGS FROM RICCARTON
Special to the Daily Times CHRISTCHURCH, May 13. A patch of bad weather is being experienced—seasonable, no doubt, but not pleasant. Rain and frost ha.ve alternated this week. More heavy rain fell last night and this morning, but the indications are for an improvement, which will be welcome, especially for those who have the Amberley meeting in view for to-morrow.
W. Barr’s stable will have two horses in the high-weight at Amberley. M. J. McClintock will ride Matapan, and, unless a jumping rider becomes available, R. A. Burt will be on Bravura. These two horses will take on jumping races soon. Matapan, a hurdler, will start off at Washdyke next week, followed by the Dunedin meeting, where Bravura will start another steeplechase campaign. Lodestar has two engagements at the Amberley meeting, the Glasnevin Stakes, for maidens, and the Seadown Handicap. R. W. Gould will ride him, but there has been no announcement as to the race he will run in.
