Evening Reception is Held at “Corstorphine” For Library Delegates

An evening reception, held in the gracious surroundings of “ Corstorphine.” wa s arranged on Tuesday by Cr T. K. S. Sidey, chairman of the Dunedin Public Library Committee, to welcome delegates who are attending the conference of the Library Association. Cr Sidey and Mrs Sidey, assisted by Mr J W Kealey and Mrs Kealey, received the guests, and in a welcoming speech Cr Sidey referred to the formation of the association, which took place in Dunedin 21 years ago. Stressing the importanl part libraries had played in the early history of the province, he recalled thal the first ships brought libraries on board, and that by 1875 there were already 88 public libraries in the province. On behalf of the visitors Mr Kealey thanked Cr and Mrs Sidey for their hospitality.
