DRAUGHTS CHAMPIONSHIP

TOURNAMENT IN NORTH PA PALMERSTON N., Apl. 18. There are 16 competitors taking part in the New Zealand Draughts Championship consisting of 15 rounds. The championship will conclude on Wednesday. The feature of the tournament so far has been the fact that Calderwood (Hamilton), who has not lost a game for 10 years, although he has drawn several, was defeated by the prominent Nelson player, Mulvey. Another player who has been commanding attention is the young Falmerstonian, Whitehead.
