PA PALMERSTON N„ Apl. 18. The Draughts Championship has now reached the ninth round, there being six rounds to play. J. Mulvey, the prominent Nelson player, is still leading at the end of to-day’s play, half a point ahead of Calderwood, and Prince (Wanganui) and Whitehead (Palmerston North) are both half a point behind Calderwood. Points to the end of the eighth round are:—Mulvey 135 Calderwood (Hamilton) 13, Whitehead 12, Prince ' 12. Davis (Whangarei) 10, Johnston (Palmerston North) 95,. Souness (Wellington) 9, Ramsay (Palmerston North) 9, Burke (Wellington) 75. Graham (Dannevirke) 7, Gilhoolly (Dannevirke) 5, Carey (Palmerston North) 55, Kane (Gisborne) 5, Anderson (Palmerston North) 45, Campbell (Palmerston North) 35, Purnell (Palmerston North) Kane and Davis have one round to nlay.
