HIGH COST OF BUILDING

Special to the Daily Times WELLINGTON, Mar. 25. A striking example of the high cost of building, which is embarrassing local authorities and the Government, was given by the chairman of the Wellington Hospital Board, Mr W. J. Gaudin, at the opening of the new nurses’ home at the hosiptal on Saturday. The original nurses’ home at the hospital was built in 1904, and. with additions built about 21 years later, would house about 200 nurses. The cost of these buildings was about £45,000. The new home, which would house 126 nurses, was built at a cost of about £130,000, or more than £IOOO for each nurse accommodated.
