BRYAN DRAKE RECITAL

On April 12, in the Concert Chamber the Dunedin public will be able to attend what will probably be one of Bryan Drake’s last appearances before his departure for England. For the past two or three years Mr Drake has sung for all the major choral societies in New Zealand and has broadcast extensively in the main centres. In oratorio and opera he is well known to music lovers in Dunedin, having performed many of the baritone solo parts and having toured New Zealand in 1948 singing the role of ICscamillo in “ Carmen. In his recital, Mr Drake will sing airs by Handel and Buononcini, lieder by Schubert and Brahms, arias by Mozart and Massenet, and several songs of the modern English school. Mr Drake will be supported by the Dunedin pianist, Raymond Windsor, who is widely recognised throughout the country. The accompanist will be Mrs Ernest Drake.
