CAMPBELL ISLAND
PUKAKI’S NEXT VISIT PA WELLINGTON, Mar. 23. The Minister of Defence, Mr Jones, has announced the intended programme for HMNZS Pukaki (Lieu-tenant-commander L. E. Herrick) on her next routine visit to service the meteorological station on Campbell Island. On completion of the New Zealand Squadron exercises and visits to New Zealand ports, the Pukaki is expected to leave Auckland on April 19 and arrive in Wellington on the 21st where relief personnel and stores for the Campbell Island meteorological station will be embarked. Departing from Wellington on April 26. the Fukaki is due to call at Dunedin from the 27th to the 29th to lift further stores and then sail for Campbell Island, arriving on May 1. Nearly a week will be spent at Campbell Island unloading stores and to enable the new personnel to become acquainted with their duties. On May 6 the Pukaki will depart for Wellington direct, arriving on May 9 to disembark the relieved personnel, and on the following day she will sail for Auckland, where she is due on Mav 12.
