STOCK SALES
OTUREHUA The Central Otago series of stock sales was continued yesterday when the Oturehua auction was held. There was an entry of 8500 sheep and all classes sold well except average carry-over wether lambs, which were a shade easier. In most classes values were firmer, especially for lower grade full and failing mouth ewes, which sold at from 10s to 12s above the prices realised for similar sheep 12 months ago. In the two-tooth ewe section, several pens of well-grown sheep were forward and the top price was 565. Idaburn, Ltd., topped the market for annual draft ewes with a line of early shorn good condition Romney cross five-year-olds. Although there was no outstanding line of Romney cross ewe lambs offered, bidding was keen and values improved on late rates.
