UNUSUAL HEALING POWERS POSSESSED BY SHIP’S STEWARD
PERTH, Jan. 14. Unusual healing powers said to be possessed by Cornelius Weibs, assistant chief steward on the liner Volendam, were the most discussed topic among the passengers when the ship arrived at Fremantle. Two women passengers claimed he had cured them of disabilities from which they had long suffered. A West Australian woman, married to a Dutch serviceman, said she suffered an attack of infantile paralysis before leaving the State, and when she joined the Volendam she had a disability to the left leg and pains in her body. Mr Weibs cured her almost at a touch. The other woman suffered from sciatica, contracted in a concentration camp. It was cured in three days. Weibs is at a loss to explain his powers.
