This will allow Shirley Fqx, who was ballotted out of the original acceptance list for the Railway Handicap to take her place again in the field. Shirley Fox is weighted at 7.0 and has drawn No. 10 at the barrier. Earldale was scratched at 12.45 p.m. to-day from the Auckland Cup. He was one of the horses affected by the ballot and his withdrawal makes no difference to the field except that it will give Hunting Rua, Maid of Sherwood, and Foxfable who were ballotted out after him, a slightly better chance of returning to the field. Other scratchings posted to-day were:— Nursery Handicap—Probator, 9.15 a.m.; Robinson's Handicap—Ending, 4.15 p.m.; all engagements—Super, 4.30 p.m.; Queen's Plate—Chetswood, 4.30 p.m.
