HEAVY ENTRIES IN FOR TENNIS CHAMPIONSHIPS

Mantell-Harding, after entries closed yesterday for the 1948-49 New Zealand championships. A surprising number of leading players had not arranged Doubles partners, asking to be paired. The Men’s Singles entries totalled 90, with a limit of 64. Other totals were: Women’s Singles 46. Men’s Doubles 47, Women’s Doubles 22, Mixed Doubles 48. . . u For the New Zealand junior championships the Boys’ Singles entries exceeded the limit of 64, and the Boys’ Doubles were also over the limit of 32.
