Auckland T.C Jottings The recognised champions are not catered for at the Metropolitan meeting this month and there is no free-for-all on the two programmes. Efforts are being made to establish night trotting in New South Wales. At present the law prohibits betting on races after dark. A Bill to repeal this law is to be introduced next session. Last Season’s Records The new trotting records last season were made at Epsom. Single Direct paced two miles in 4min 11 2-ssec (a place record) and Emulous two miles in 4min 12 2-ssec (a winning record). Highland Fling equalled the New Zealand record of 3mm 9 4-ssec for a mile and a-half Among the trotters Fantom 2min 42sec and Aerial Scott 3min lGsec and 4min 24sec established grass track records. Scotch Music Sold The trek of, horses from New Zealand to Australia continues and the latest horse to be sold to a Perth buyer is Scotch Music. The Grattan Loyal gelding raced very consistently in the 1946-47 season for 16 minor placlngs in 25 starts. Bred at Wyndham from a Frank Dewey mare. Scotch Music was trained in turn by L. Abernethy, L. A. Maidens, V. Leeming and G. S. Smith. Trotting Attractively One of W- R. Butt’s active team is Jimmy Scot, who is reported to be trotting attractively In his work. In the season just concluded the U. Scott gelding was placed in five of his 12 races. Former New Zealanders Two former New Zealand pacers in Indian Clipper and Bulldozer recently changed hands in Australia at 1400 guineas and 1050 guineas respectively. Mandrake In Work The aged Dillon Hall gelding Mandrake had only five races last season and he was placed in three of them. C. R. Berkett has him in forward condition for early engagements.
