JUDGING CONCLUDED Judging was concluded in the bird classes yesterday at the Dunedin Fanciers’ Club Centennial Show, now being held in Brydone Hall. In the fancy pigepn section, the judge, Mr T. S Richmond; of Christchurch, said the standard was well up to that of last year. Most of the-classes had large entries.. The winning bird in the Blondinettes’ section was an outstanding exhibit, he said. It was entered by G. W. Cant, of Auckland. J. H. Fahey, of Dunedin, was the most successful local competitor, winning first prize in the best nuns and best bald-head tumbler sections. M. Anderson, of Dunedin entered the best bird in the homing pigeon section. This was a hen in the 500-mile class, and the judge, Mr L. W. Wilshire, of Christchurch, said it was the best entry he had ever judged. There were good entries in the poultry classes, and the awards were fairly evenly divided. , The best White Leghorn in the fancy poultry class was entered by M. W. Hawkins, of Christchurch. In the utility section, Mitchell and McKle, of Christchurch, won the barred cockerel, Buff Orpington and Rhode Island Red classes. Oamaru competitors had a fair propofS tion of successes in the bantam section. I. Gilmore entered the best black-breasted red cockerel, and W. H. Turvey gained a number of wins in the modem game section. G. F. R. Bell’s Yorkshire canary won the Brauman Cup and a special prize for the best unflighted canary, while C. Helean’s entry was judged the best yellow, and A. Wood's the best buff. In the unflighted classes, A. Woods won the award for the best buff variegated bird, and W. and I. McCutcheon the best buff clear flighted, while W. J. Jarvis’s bird was the best buff variegated, and T. Allen won the award for the best variegated fliglrted Yorkshire. Dr 'A. J. Cottrell’s cinnamon variegated buff cock was awarded a special prize and the centennial banner for the best Yorkshire, as well as special prizes for the* best cinnamon and the best flighted Yorkshire. R. K. Thompson won the award for the best novice with his yellow cock.' Four special prizes' and the centennial championship for the best Norwich were won by a yellow variegated cock entered by E. Tomkins. W. and I. McCutcheon’s entry was judged the best unflighted Border cock, and other birds' entered by the same exhibitors won the New Zealand championship for the best buff variegated Border and for the best unflighted cock. The South Island and centennial championships for the best Roller canary was won by J. Fraser. An oustanding entry by C. C. Benzonl won two special prizes, the centennial banner and the Barnett Cup for the best budgerigar. He won the South Island and New Zealand championships for the best yellow cock, the best green budgerigar being P. T. Watkinson’s entry. S. S. Anderson’s grey cock was awarded the New Zealand championship for /the best budgerigar of any other colour and L. M. Brain won the New Zealand championship for the best opaline. C. R. Neil’s entry was the best novice. W. Hamilton won the New Zealand and South Island centennial championships for for the best foreign bird, and the Graham Cup for the best pair of foreign birds was won by A. Beecham. A special prize for the best rabbit was won by Miss J. Hanson's white shorthaired entry, and Miss L. Mouat’s rose comb bantam was judged the best bantam.
