FORMER UNIVERSITY OF OTAGO' LECTURER

EDUCATION RESEARCH WORK Rec. 9 p.m. LONDON, May 22. Reuter’s Berlin correspondent says that Mr G. W. Parkyn, senior lecturer at the University of Otago, had arrived on the last stage of his European tour. He has been studying the reaction of educationists in Britain and France to the proposal that technical students should be given a course in general education. Mr Parkyn was appointed Research Officer on the staff of the New Zealand Council for Educational Research in July. 1947. Awarded a Carnegie Fellowship earlier in the year, Mr Parkyn left for England last September to take up his new position. While in England he was attached to the - Institute of Education of the University of London, with visits to other English and Continental universities.
