DISTINCTION IN WORK

CONSISTENT THREE-YEAR-OLD NOTES FROM TRENTHAM Special to the Daily WELLINGTON, May 20. The consistent three-year-old, Distinction, has resumed work under W. J. Bromby, at Trentham. He was turned out after he finished fourth in the Gloaming Stakes at the Wellington summer meeting in January and has done particularly well. He has shown ability to handle bad ground and should carry his record further during the winter. Distinction has been only twice out of a place in 13 attempts this season. There was little fast work at Trentham this morning. The proper was very heavy and most trainers were content to restrict their teams to pace work. Clare’s Pal sprinted from the five furlongs to the three in 27 3-ssec. He looks improved with his race at Otaki. Hormuz completed a mile in lmin 49sec. He was assisted over the first three furlongs by Zealander and brought home from there by Galway Bay. he ran the last five furlongs in lmin 9 4-ssec. The last half-mile taking 55 4-ssec, and the three 41 4-ssec. Bon Chale handled the conditions better than Erin’s Pal to have a two lengths advantage at the end of seven furlongs run in lmin 38 l-ssec, the final half-mile taking 56 l-ssec, and the three furlongs 41 4-ssec. High Order completed the last half of a mile in 56sec, he should be capable of a forward showing in the Foxton Cup on Saturday. Ring Scarf gave a fast and clean display over four brush fences and four schooling hurdles.
