WOMAN FOUND GUILTY OF MANSLAUGHTER

p a WANGANUI, May 19. Found guilty of manslaughter, with a strong recommendation to mercy, Agnes Hopi (or Paranihi), aged 19, of 'Taihape, was this morning placed on probation for two-years by Mr Justice Cornish in the Wanganui Supreme Court. -Hopi was accused of the murder of her newly-born female child at Taihape. Conditions of the sentence were that she take employment at the direction of the probation officer and leave only at his direction, and that she should go out at night only with his permission.
