Special to the Daily Times WELLINGTON, May IS. A feature of the trials at Trentham this morning tor tne Foxtou Racing Club’s meeting on Saturday was a sound lialimile by the three-ycar-oicl, Clare's Pal. The galloping took place on the centre ol the course pioper, which was son and cutting out. Coiiuitions deteriorated alter heavy rain during the breaklast interval and the track became a quagmire lor the later workers. By far the best performance was that of Clare’s Pal wliq, completed hall a-mile in 50 4-ssec the iinal three rurlongs taxing 37 3-ssec. Clare’s Pal was a beaten favourite in the Puxehou Hack Handicap at Otaki on Saturday after leading into the straight. His chances were not improved when he bored out in the run home. He looks improved by the outing, Palissy covered an easy mile in lmin 57sec, coming home from the half in 57 2-ssec. Beginning smartly, Bonnie Fair led Ladyship throughout half a-mile in 52 3-ssec, the final three furlongs taking 38 3-ssec. Although she had the better of the weights Bonnie Fair worked impressively. She is likely to race at Foxton and Levin and then be turned out for a spell. Bon Chale finished slightly better than Erin's Pal at the end of six furlongs, the last five requiring lmin 9 2-ssec.
