WAITAKI HOSPITAL BOARD

New Maternity Annexe

Advice was received at the monthly meeting of the Waitaki Hospital Board yesterday that the Department of Health had approved in principle to the proposal to erect a temporary building to provide accommodation for maternity patients and additional sanitary facilities for the emergency maternity annexe. The department also advised that the proposal to acquire “ Rangimarle ” as a temporary building was not acceptable. Sketch plans and specifications were received from the board’s, architect, Mr W. I. C. Steenson. Mr J. Rodman was in the chair, and there were also present Mrs T. Munro, Dr D. J. Miller, Messrs J. S. Adams, H. C. Jeffery, N. H. Colquhoun and G. O. Pringle. > Sister Mavis 11. Scott was granted two months’ leave of absence, and the resignations of Staff Nurse L. J. Sutherland and Staff Sister W. Birt were accepted with regret. The following institution reports were received:—Public Hospital: Patients at beginning of month 95, admitted during month 174, discharged 139, remaining 119; Victoria Home—24, 6, 1. 28; maternity annexe—l 7, 40, 43 14; Kurow Maternity Annexe—2, 6, 6 2. The district nurse reported there were eight new cases for the month four had been discharged, 24 attended, two required attention on Sundays, and 218 visits had been made.
